Implantable Connectors

The human body is one of the most unique and demanding environments for electronic devices. Qnnect makes it possible for developers to deliver new, life-saving implantable medical devices by producing hermetic implantable feedthrus that are smaller, stronger, and more reliable.

Implantable Feedthrus

For over 40 years, implantable feedhrus from Qnnect have been used successfully in the field within a variety of applications including cochlear implants, cardiac devices, neuro-stimulators and more. We specialize in helping customers achieve tight pin pitches and offer both custom and standard feed-thru options.

We can bring your implantable device package design to life. Our expertise in the precision machining of titanium means we can meet and hold very tight tolerances. Our specialized materials and manufacturing techniques allow us to optimize designs for small size, RF transparency and more. We’ve also helped to overcome rejection issues by designing devices using materials with a proven track record of implantable viability

Hermetic Implantable Connectors

Qnnect is an industry leader in overcoming many of the unique engineering challenges faced by medical implant designers. Qnnect has developed a ceramic-to-metal joining technology that allows medical components to be smaller, without compromising performance. Qnnect’s RF transparent ceramic/titanium packaging technology enables medical device manufacturers to create devices that can be communicated with from outside the body. By enabling the development of smaller components and other strengthening advancements, Qnnect also helps medical component manufacturers improve implantable device durability. In addition, our successful history in developing materials that have a track record of implantable viability helps manufacturers mitigate rejection issues.

While we manufacture custom feedthrus for a variety of applications (cochlear implants, neuro-stimulators, and cardiac-function devices), we also produce standard implantable feedthrus that don’t require NRE and long lead times.

Our Implantable Connectors

For more than 40 years, Qnnect has provided unique manufacturing solutions for implantable medical components used in government approved devices that are helping thousands of patients. Our standard hermetic implantable connectors utilize materials with a proven track record of implantable viability and have successfully passed cytotoxicity testing. Leading implantable medical device manufacturers use hermetic connectors from the Hermetic Solutions Group in a number of different applications including: cardiac implants, neuro-stimulators, cochlear devices and more. Our standard hermetic implantable connectors use the same materials, technology and manufacturing processes that make our built-to-order products popular among leading device manufacturers, but these products are quick-turn (either in stock or with greatly reduced manufacturing times) and don’t require NRE investments.

Features & Benefits

Smaller Footprints: Qnnect's ceramic-to-metal joining technology allows us to make components smaller without compromising performance. Pin pitches go down to 0.050’’ on our standard products and could go even smaller in a custom design.

7 Shapes, 2 Pin Lengths: Qnnect's feedthru range is the widest standard implantable feedthru offering on the market.

Cytotoxicity Tests Available: While all implantable devices must pass tests as finished final devices, Qnnect’s feedthrus have passed component-level cytotoxicity testing with flying colors. We have submitted two representative feed-thru configurations to the test and both show no reactivity after incubation.

40+ Years of Field Experience: In 1976, our company designed and sold its first 4-pin feed-thru for a pacemaker. We have produced more than 250,000 units of that feed-thru over the years and have manufactured over 1,000,000 hermetic components for use in implantable medical devices.

Testing Protocol: Qnnect’s hermetic feedthrus pass extensive testing that demonstrate robustness and reliability under extreme conditions.
